Ex-TV broadcaster, security guard found dead

The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the deaths of retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, whose bodies were discovered at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village.
According to the command, the incident came to light after a resident alerted officers at the Owode Egba Divisional Headquarters over unusual activities observed around the property.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said detectives were deployed to the scene immediately following the report.
Preliminary investigations, he said, revealed evidence suggesting that the premises had been unlawfully accessed, with signs of disturbance noticed within the compound.
During a search of the property, officers found the body of the security guard in the security post, while Oyesiku’s remains were later recovered from her apartment.

Police further disclosed that the retired broadcaster’s vehicle could not be found within the residence, raising suspicions that it may have been taken by those behind the incident.
Babaseyi said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bode Ojajuni, has directed detectives to carry out an extensive investigation into the matter and ensure those responsible are identified and apprehended.
He added that intelligence gathering and surveillance operations have been intensified in relevant locations to aid the investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Babaseyi stated.
“An intensive investigation is ongoing to unravel the facts, track down, and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act, while ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice,” he added.
The police command extended its condolences to the family of the deceased broadcaster, members of the Ogun State Television community, media practitioners, and others affected by the tragedy.
It also appealed to residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and provide any useful information that could assist investigators in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
