US will take over control of Strait of Hormuz if ….- Trump warns Iran

United States’ President Donald Trump has suggested that his country could assume control of the Strait of Hormuz if ongoing negotiations with Iran fail, while also issuing stern warnings to Iranian officials involved in talks in Switzerland.
Speaking during a 20-minute telephone interview with Fox News, Trump said Washington could intervene in the strategic waterway if Tehran refuses to reach an agreement.
“We may take over the Strait, if we have to,” Trump said. “If they don’t make a deal, we’ll collect tolls.”
The remarks came after Iranian state media reported on Saturday that the country’s military command had announced plans to close the Strait of Hormuz, accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire in Lebanon and alleging that the United States had failed to fulfil the first provision of a tentative agreement aimed at ending the conflict.
During the interview, Trump also appeared to warn of renewed US military action against Iran and directed sharp comments at Iranian negotiators currently meeting with Vice President JD Vance in Switzerland.
“You close it and you won’t have a country,” Trump said he told Iranian officials regarding the crucial shipping route. “You won’t even make it back to your f**king country.”
The US president further repeated his position that America could act as the “guardian angel” of the strait and potentially claim 20 per cent of the oil transported through the passage.
The White House has yet to provide further details on what any proposed US takeover of the strait would involve.
Trump also renewed his criticism of Iran over the activities of groups allied with Tehran in Lebanon.
“Iran must immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Sunday morning. “If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!!”
