5 decomposed bodies found along Abuja–Kaduna highway

Five unidentified men have been found dead in a decomposed state along the Abuja–Kaduna expressway, close to the boundary between the Federal Capital Territory and Kaduna State.

Security analyst Zagozola Makama reported that the victims, all male, were discovered lying face down with their eyes blindfolded with black fabric — an indication they might have been killed elsewhere and later dumped at the scene by unidentified individuals.

“Upon receipt of the information, a team of policemen visited the scene and recovered two empty shells of an AK-47 rifle and an android phone. Photographs of the remains were taken for documentation.

“Due to the advanced stage of decomposition and the health risk posed, Chairman of Tafa Local Government Area, Hon. Danladi T. Iyah, directed the Social Welfare Department to conduct an immediate burial at the site. The burial was carried out in the presence of the Hakimi and the Village Head (Dagachi) of Garam,” the report said.

Authorities say efforts are underway to determine who the victims were and to track down those responsible.
