JUST IN PDP chairmen reject lawsuit aimed at stopping party convention

State chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have distanced themselves from the lawsuit seeking to halt the party’s forthcoming national convention scheduled for November in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, the Chairman of the PDP Chairmen Forum and Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, reaffirmed the forum’s commitment to the unity and progress of the party.

Aziegbemi condemned the actions of Austine Nwachukwu (Imo) and Amah Abraham Nnana (Abia), who were linked to the controversial suit, announcing their immediate suspension from the forum.

He further urged the Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) to take appropriate disciplinary measures against any member found to be directly or indirectly involved in the legal action, stressing that such moves were capable of destabilizing the party ahead of its convention.

He stated, ” We distance ourselves completely from the suit and the plan to use it to stop the PDP from holding its National Convention. This is not right.

“We want to state clearly that we are solidly behind the Damagum-led NWC, and we will give our full support to ensure a hitch-free convention.
The evil plot of the APC to turn Nigeria into a one-party state will never succeed.

“We hope other organs of the party will draw inspiration from our decision. We must all stand firm and make the right choices.”
