Newly called to bar lawyer abducted while returning home from Abuja

Barrister Onyesom Udoka, who was only recently called to the Nigerian Bar, has been abducted along with her sister while travelling home from her Call to Bar ceremony.

The incident took place around Lokoja, Kogi State, on Friday, September 27, 2025, just four days after she was officially called to the bar in Abuja on Tuesday, September 23.

According to information shared on X by Blue Lawyer, with the handle @Rhave_official, Udoka—an alumna of Ambrose Alli University and the Nigerian Law School, Enugu campus—was taken by her abductors, who are demanding ₦20 million for her freedom.

A colleague raised the alarm on social media, writing: “My friend and colleague has been kidnapped on her way home from the Call To Bar ceremony. Please we need help. There’s a 20 million naira ransom on her and her sister.”

Blue Lawyer also disclosed that she was traveling in a vehicle from Abuja to Benin, the Edo State capital, when the attack occurred.

The abduction adds to the growing list of kidnapping incidents across the country, with Kogi State increasingly in the spotlight over insecurity concerns.
