The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has alerted motorists on the collapse of a bridge in Katsina State.
According to a statement issued by Olusegun Ogungbemide, Corps Public Education Officer, on Sunday, the bridge along the Katsina–Batsari route, a few meters after Salbak Filling Station, near Shagari Lowcost, gave way after a heavy downpour on the night of Saturday, 9th August 2025.
“Following an on-the-spot assessment by the Sector Commander, CC Maxwell Lede, on Sunday, 10th August 2025, the affected section has been temporarily closed to traffic, and the area has been cordoned off from both ends by FRSC personnel to safeguard road users.
“As a result, alternative routes have been provided as follows:From Katsina to Batsari: Use Ring Road via Al-Qalam University. From Batsari to Katsina: Use the Army Barracks–Jibia Road to reconnect.
“Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the collapsed bridge site to prevent road crashes, especially during late evening hours or in rainy conditions when visibility is poor.”
