JUST IN Ex Attorney General Malami dumps APC joins ADC
Abubakar Malami

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) the rising political coalition positioning itself as the major challenger to President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement shared via his verified Facebook page, Malami revealed that his decision was the outcome of extensive consultations and personal reflection on Nigeria’s political direction and growing challenges.

“This move is not about anger or personal ambition,” Malami wrote. “It is born out of a genuine concern for the deteriorating state of our nation and a desire to contribute meaningfully to a better future through a new, people-driven platform.”

“I hereby announce my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and my decision to align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party of choice for our coalition, a coalition driven by the urgent need to rescue our country from further decline,” Malami stated.

He lamented the current security situation in the country, particularly in the northern region, saying Nigerians now live under constant fear due to the rising cases of banditry, kidnappings, and terrorism, while the government appears more focused on politics than the safety of its citizens.

“Our economy is in shambles. Prices of basic food items have tripled. The poor can no longer feed their families. Jobs are disappearing.”

“Young people are hopeless. Instead of focusing on real solutions, the government is consumed by propaganda and political distractions,” he added.

Malami accused the current administration of neglecting good governance and prioritising political loyalty over national interest.

“Appointments, projects, and policies are now guided by political loyalty and not national interest. I cannot remain part of a system that watches in silence as Nigerians suffer and die.”

He expressed confidence in the ADC’s ideology, which he described as one built on justice, inclusion, competence, and national renewal, adding that the coalition he now leads with the support of the Nigerian people will help chart a new course for the country.
