BREAKING 13 kidnapped Benue Links passengers regain freedom

Thirteen passengers of Benue Links who were abducted earlier at Eke in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State have regained their freedom, following a coordinated rescue mission led by the police and supported by local vigilante groups.

The Chairman of Okpokwu LGA, Adah Inalegwu, confirmed the successful operation on Sunday.

Inalegwu explained that the joint team of police personnel and community vigilantes launched a sweeping search of the forest, intensifying pressure on the abductors.

That effort yielded results on Saturday with the rescue of two captives. According to Inalegwu, further reinforcements came from youths mobilised from neighbouring Kogi State, increasing pressure on the kidnappers.

This intensified action forced the abductors to release the remaining eleven victims at Oando village around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Inalegwu credited the operation’s success to enhanced logistics provided by Governor Hyacinth Alia, as well as strengthened surveillance and tracking capabilities.

“The provision of logistics by Governor Hyacinth Alia, with improved security surveillance and tracking, led to the rescue of the victims,” he said.
