Bandits kidnap traditional ruler in Kaduna community

Armed men believed to be bandits have kidnapped the traditional ruler of Bauda, a village within the Maro community in Kufana Chiefdom, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The abduction took place around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, when the assailants invaded the community and seized the village head, Mr. Obadiah Iguda.
A report presented to the Agom Kufana by the district overseer, Mr. Stephen Maikori, confirmed that the attackers made off with only the community leader. No other individuals were harmed or abducted, and no properties were reported stolen during the incident.
“This senseless act of violence has further deepened the atmosphere of insecurity and fear among the residents of Bauda and its surrounding communities,” Maikori wrote in a letter to the traditional ruler.
The kidnapping has unsettled the leadership structure in Bauda and heightened concerns about the deteriorating security landscape in the region.
Authorities in Kufana District have called on security agencies to step up interventions and provide lasting protection for lives and property in the area.
When reached for comments, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, said he would verify the details before issuing a statement. As of the time this report was filed, he had yet to provide an update.
