Murdered travellers laid to rest in Plateau amid tight security

The remains of victims killed in a mob assault in Mangun, a community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, have been interred at the Hayi Muslim Cemetery.
The deceased—comprising men, women, and children—were residents of Basawa-Anguwan Rimi in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
They were en route to Qua’an Pan LGA to attend a wedding ceremony when they were ambushed.
The burial, conducted Saturday evening under heavy security presence, was permitted to take place in Plateau after consultations with religious leaders.
According to clerics, the families of the deceased agreed to the local burial to prevent potential unrest in their home communities.
Religious figures present at the funeral urged restraint, emphasizing peace and patience.
