Communities refute extortion allegations against Kaduna Electric

The Chairman of Maigero and Karji communities in Kaduna, Mr. Lucky Akpoiosevbe, has firmly denied the claims made against Kaduna Electric by a community member, Edward Auta.
Auta, identified as a public affairs commentator, had reportedly accused the power company of intentionally withholding electricity from the community, a claim made without verification.
In a formal response, Akpoiosevbe, on behalf of the communities, expressed their gratitude to Kaduna Electric for its ongoing efforts to address power supply challenges.
In a letter, the chairman rejected Auta’s allegations and praised the company’s contribution to improving electricity services in the area.

The letter reads: “We write on behalf of the entire communities we are representing, disassociating ourselves from the recent publication by Mr Edward Auta, a member of one of our communities, where a connivance of KAEDCO and community leaders was purportedly presented, that money was being extorted from unsuspected community members for the installation of transformers.
“We say categorically that, never has anything of sort had happened and will ever happen in our community as we cherish our relationship with your organization. Rather we are more poised in making sure that, the mutual and cordial relationship between the two parties gets better by the day. Hence, the resolve to improve on our sincere community social responsibility all the time,is most assured.
“We are infact using this medium to express our gratitude and appreciation to KAEDCO in the improved customer relationship and better service delivery brought about by your presence and your team to our service area. May the Lord reward you richly for this.
“Your support and contribution is immeasurable towards the energizing of our relief transformer – Maigero 14 which will eventually relief the much overlooked Maigero 6 & 11 transformers. respectively.Notable among the materials donated by KAEDCO through you are:
A) Complete Incomer cables for our donated 300KVA Transformer
B) One number 12mtrs 150mm Upriser cable; to mention a few.
“We are indeed very grateful to you for all your support and by extension your organization and will equally solicit for more like the proverbial Oliver Twist who will always ask for more. Do complete the support by giving the community another upriser cable to fully aid the single one that was earlier donated by KAEDCO.”
