We are not done yet says Obasanjo as ex President Atiku Obi others meet in Abuja event

A host of Nigeria’s political heavyweights, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, gathered in Abuja on Tuesday to witness the launch of the autobiography of former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido.

The event, which attracted a wide array of political figures, featured former Senate Presidents Ken Nnamani, Pius Anyim, and Iyorchia Ayu, alongside several serving and former governors.

In a keynote address, Obasanjo reflected on Nigeria’s journey and the continuing responsibilities of its past and present leaders.

He noted that the aspirations they once shared for the country remain unfulfilled.

“Nigeria that we are working for, we haven’t gotten there. And I believe it is the responsibility of each of us to ensure that we get there,” Obasanjo said. “Our job is not finished until we are finished.”

The former president urged Lamido and other elder statesmen not to retreat from national service, asserting that the mission of building a better Nigeria is far from complete.

Titled Being True to Myself, Lamido’s autobiography drew an impressive guest list, including Governors Muhammadu Yahaya (Gombe), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau).

Also present were former governors Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Ahmed Makarfi (Kaduna), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), and Liyel Imoke (Cross River), among others.
