Boko Haram : Nigerian gov bans sale of petrol in Borno local govt

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has imposed an immediate suspension on the sale of petrol in Bama Local Government Area as part of broader efforts to tackle insecurity in the region.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, the decision follows consultations with security agencies and is aligned with the state’s strategic initiatives to strengthen counter-insurgency operations.
“I have directed the immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama town, Banki, and other parts of Bama Local Government Area with immediate effect,” Zulum stated.
He emphasized that violators of the new directive would be held accountable without exception.
“Let me make it clear—there will be no sacred cows in the enforcement of this ban. Security agencies have been given strict orders to clamp down on any filling station or individual contravening this directive. Anyone found culpable will be dealt with accordingly,” he warned.
Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and called on residents to support the ongoing campaign against insurgency.
