Absence of interpreter stalls trial of ex Buhari s minister
Former Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman

The trial of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, who served under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, was delayed at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday due to the absence of an interpreter.

When the case was called, prosecution counsel A.O. Mohammed, Esq., informed the court that although the proceedings were set for the continuation of a trial-within-trial, he had encountered challenges securing an interpreter.

He explained to the court that he had been notified the court’s official interpreter was unavailable due to an official assignment.

In response, the prosecution counsel asked the court for a brief adjournment to allow time for an interpreter to be present.

The defence counsel, Emmanuel Hassan, Esq., did not oppose the request.

Justice James Omotosho subsequently adjourned the trial to May 8 and 9 for hearing.
