JUST IN : Gunshots disrupt pro-Wike rally in Bayelsa

Tension gripped parts of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Saturday when gunshots rang out at a major political rally organized by the NEW Associates, a group aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The event, led by George Turnah, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa, was already underway when the sudden bursts of gunfire sent panic through the crowd.

Security operatives quickly moved to restore order, and normal activities resumed shortly after the disturbance.

Speaking to reporters following the incident, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe, Secretary of NEW Associates in the state, affirmed that the rally would continue as planned. Supporters later regrouped to push on with the event.
