Alleged poisoning: Delta Governor’s aide, Love Shimite dies suddenly, police launch probe

Chief Love Shimite, the Special Adviser on Trade and Export to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has sadly passed away.
Her death reportedly occurred in the early hours of Easter Monday following a brief illness, although the exact cause has not yet been officially confirmed.
The Delta State Police Command, through its spokesperson Mr. Bright Edafe, confirmed the news. According to Edafe, Shimite was pronounced dead at the hospital where she was rushed for treatment.
In a surprising development, the police also disclosed that the deceased’s husband has been taken into protective custody amid reports of threats from members of her family. Edafe emphasized that the man is not under arrest but was placed in protective care for his safety.
In his words: “He (the husband) was the one who called to report that his wife died early this morning and that he was receiving threats from her family, who feared he might be attacked. It was on this basis that we went to his house and brought him in for his own safety.”
However, Edafe added that the family of the late adviser later lodged a formal complaint, raising concerns that her husband might be connected to her death.
“We are currently investigating. In situations like this, only an autopsy can determine whether the death was natural or due to other causes,” he said.
The police have promised to provide more updates as the investigation continues.
