NSCDC foils attack at Plateau church , intercepts man with firearm

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Plateau State on Sunday apprehended a man in possession of a firearm within the premises of a church in Bokkos Local Government Area.

The arrest was made around 8:30 a.m. during a routine patrol, following an intelligence tip-off, according to a report by counter-insurgency expert and security analyst Zagazola Makama.

Sources familiar with the incident said the NSCDC operatives intercepted the suspect near the church compound thereby foiling any possible attack.

“The suspect was found in possession of a gun and could not provide any satisfactory explanation or legal documentation for it. The swift action of our operatives helped prevent what could have escalated into a serious security breach,” the source said.

Authorities have withheld the identity of the suspect, citing ongoing preliminary investigations.
