PEDAN applauds FG’s appointment of new NNPCL management team

The Petroleum Dealers Association of Nigeria (PEDAN) has lauded the Federal Government for the recent appointment of a new management team at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Ibrahim Shehu Yahaya, and made available to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, PEDAN described the move as a progressive step that could transform the governance of the country’s oil sector.
As a key player in the downstream sector and a vital part of the organized private sector, the association said it welcomed the inclusion of respected technocrats with proven private sector experience in the new leadership.
“It represents a move towards more professional, transparent, and efficient management of our petroleum resources. PEDAN believes this development will foster a deeper collaboration between the public and private sectors, built on mutual respect and informed perspectives,” the statement noted.
According to PEDAN, the appointments mark a “paradigm shift” and hold promise for consolidating the reforms introduced by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
“We are optimistic that the foundational reforms introduced through the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) will be sustained, consolidated, and expanded under the stewardship of this new leadership. These changes are vital for building a resilient, investor-friendly, and growth-driven petroleum sector in Nigeria,” it stated.
The association also urged stakeholders across the industry to rally behind the new NNPCL team.
“PEDAN calls on all industry stakeholders to give their full support to the new NNPCL management. Together, we can build a stronger, more accountable, and forward-looking oil and gas industry that works in the best interest of all Nigerians,” the statement said.
