National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has revealed that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), is set to return to the ruling party.

Ganduje made this revelation on Tuesday while addressing members of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.

The former Kano State governor confidently stated that the NNPP is no longer a political threat to the APC, hinting at ongoing reconciliation efforts to bring Kwankwaso back into the party’s fold.

“The NNPP is dead. And it will soon be buried; very, very soon. I’m looking at where we will bury the body. The coffin has already been constructed,” he said.

“What remains now is to dig the grave. And already they are digging the grave very, very soon.”

The APC chairman said the ongoing coalition talks among opposition leaders, aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu, will not succeed.

He added that Kwankwaso, who leads the NNPP, would be welcomed back to the APC.

“The so-called NNPP national leader, he too, if he says after losing everyone, he wants to come back to us, we will welcome him, because he is coming back home,” he said.

Ganduje urged all APC support groups to remain firm and continue to rally behind the Tinubu administration.

He assured them of their inclusion in the party’s affairs going forward.

The APC chairman also inaugurated a six-man reconciliation committee for the three senatorial districts in Anambra, ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

On Friday, Ganduje said the proposed coalition of opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 elections will fail.

He spoke with journalists during the visit of the APC national working committee (NWC) to the residence of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna.
