Vigilantes rescue woman after abduction at prayer mountain

A woman identified as Mary Gure has been freed following an armed abduction that took place during a late-night prayer session at a mountain in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.
The attack happened at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, at a secluded prayer ground in the Egbola area along Agbaja Road. Armed assailants reportedly stormed the location, disrupting the religious gathering with gunfire and forcing several worshippers into the surrounding forest.
According to information obtained by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the gunmen fired multiple shots to create panic before seizing the attendees.
During the confusion, Gure managed to flee and was later rescued by local vigilante operatives who responded swiftly after being notified of the assault.
A coordinated response from security agencies followed, and efforts are still underway to locate other individuals taken during the incident.
As of the time of reporting, the Kogi State Police Command and related security bodies have not issued an official statement regarding the abduction.
