Lagos council chairman dies after battling undisclosed illness

The Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, Mrs. Bolatito Shobowale, has died after battling an undisclosed illness for an extended period.
Her passing was confirmed by the acting chairman of the LCDA, Ladi Oluwaloni, who described the loss as both shocking and deeply saddening.
Oluwaloni highlighted Shobowale’s dedication to public service, integrity, and commitment to governance, noting that her contributions would continue to inspire future generations.
“As we bid farewell to this remarkable leader, we take solace in the fact that her impact will live on in the hearts and lives of those she served. May the Almighty grant her eternal rest and give us the strength to uphold the values she stood for,” he stated.
Shobowale was widely recognized for her visionary leadership, spearheading infrastructural projects, healthcare improvements, and community empowerment programs that positively impacted the lives of residents.
Oluwaloni, who was sworn in as acting chairman by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu just days ago due to Shobowale’s prolonged absence, revealed that he received the sad news while on official duty at the Lagos State Secretariat.
“Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Shobowale was more than a leader; she was a mother, a mentor, and a pillar of strength to many. Her passion for grassroots development, resilience in governance, and deep love for the people of Ayobo-Ipaja will never be forgotten,” he said.
