Sisters in court for reportedly calling Kaduna lady fornicator

Two sisters, Amina Dan-Hadeja and Fatima Dan-Hadeja, appeared before a Shari’a court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, on Thursday over allegations of defaming Miss Sawira Muhammad.
According to the complainant’s counsel, Mr. R.R. Tureta, the incident occurred during a dispute between Muhammad and the defendants’ younger sister. The sisters allegedly intervened in the argument and, in the process, made defamatory remarks.
“In the process, they called the complainant a fornicator who had no root and was fed through unlawful means. This situation made the complainant uneasy because the statements were made in public,” Tureta told the court.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Presiding over the case, Judge Malam Kabir Muhammad inquired whether the complainant had witnesses, to which Tureta responded affirmatively. The judge then referred the matter to the police for further investigation and adjourned the case until April 10 for the complainant to present witnesses.
