Minister Ata celebrates Ganduje’s tenure extension

The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Ata, has extended his congratulations to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, following the extension of his leadership until 2026.
Ata expressed his excitement over the decision, which was finalized during the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on February 25, 2025, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with President Bola Tinubu presiding. According to Ata, this development highlights the party’s strong confidence in Ganduje’s leadership.
In a statement issued by his aide, Seyi Olorunsola, on Wednesday, Ata praised Ganduje’s contributions to the APC since assuming the role of National Chairman on August 3, 2023.
He noted that Ganduje’s leadership has been pivotal in guiding the party to victories in key elections, strengthening the APC’s presence across various states.
“In Edo State, the APC’s candidate, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, secured a decisive win in the September 2024 governorship election, a testament to the party’s growing influence in the region. Similarly, in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s re-election in November 2024 further solidified the APC’s dominance in the Southwest. The party’s success extended to Kogi State, with Usman Ododo emerging victorious in the November 2023 governorship poll, and in Imo State, where Governor Hope Uzodimma was re-elected for a second term. These electoral feats reinforce the APC’s commitment to delivering good governance and the electorate’s trust in the party’s vision for sustainable development,” the statement read.
Ata also emphasized Ganduje’s extensive political career — spanning eight years each as Deputy Governor and Governor of Kano State — as a major factor in strengthening the party’s internal cohesion and organizational structures.
He praised Ganduje’s record of infrastructural development and educational reforms, which he said left a lasting impact on Kano State’s growth.
“Dr. Ganduje’s extensive political experience, encompassing eight years as Deputy Governor and another eight years as Governor of Kano State, has been instrumental in fortifying the party’s structures and fostering unity among its members. His tenure as Governor was marked by significant infrastructural developments and educational reforms, reflecting his dedication to progressive governance. Notably, his administration in Kano State witnessed the construction of multiple flyover bridges and the establishment of numerous educational institutions, contributing to the state’s socio-economic advancement,” the statement said.
Ata also commended Ganduje’s leadership, stating that his achievements have brought pride to Kano State and elevated the APC’s standing nationwide.
“This vote of confidence by the party’s critical organs is anticipated to further motivate him to elevate the APC to greater heights, ensuring resounding victories in forthcoming elections across the nation. Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ata joins well-wishers in Kano, across Nigeria, and among the APC diaspora community in wishing Dr. Ganduje a successful, impactful, and result-oriented tenure leading up to 2026,” the statement added.
