The incident occurred on the morning of February 24, 2024, at the Voice Mall Shopping Arcade. Lawal, who played as a striker for Vipers SC in Uganda’s top-flight league, was pronounced dead shortly after the fall.

Ugandan authorities confirmed the incident and revealed that CCTV footage has been recovered from the scene.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
