 Ata hails Ganduje Gawuna on new appointments

Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Abdullahi Ata, has congratulated the chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) Abdullahi Ganduje, on his appointment as Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Board.

In a congratulatory message, signed by his aide, Seyi Olorunsola, the minister said the appointment testified to Ganduje’s unwavering dedication, extensive experience, and exceptional leadership in public service.

“Your illustrious career, spanning several decades, has been marked by significant contributions to Nigeria’s development. Born on December 25, 1949, in Ganduje village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, you embarked on a journey of academic excellence and public service that has inspired many. Your educational pursuits led you to Ahmadu Bello University, where you earned a Bachelor’s degree in Science Education in 1975. Furthering your commitment to education and governance, you obtained a Master’s degree in Applied Educational Psychology from Bayero University Kano in 1979, a Master’s in Public Administration from Ahmadu Bello University in 1985, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Ibadan in 1993.

Your political journey commenced with the National Party of Nigeria during the Second Republic, where you served as Kano State Assistant Secretary from 1979 to 1980. Your dedication to public service was further evident during your tenure as Deputy Governor of Kano State from 1999 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2015.  In 2015, you were elected as the Executive Governor of Kano State, a position you held with distinction until 2023.

Throughout your tenure as Governor, you implemented transformative policies that spurred economic growth, enhanced infrastructure, and improved the welfare of Kano State’s citizens. Your leadership in urban development, healthcare, and education has left an indelible mark, reflecting your commitment to progress and innovation.

Your appointment as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in August 2023 further underscores your strategic vision and ability to unify diverse perspectives within our great party. This role has benefited immensely from your wisdom, experience, and steadfast dedication to the nation’s democratic principles.

In light of your extensive experience and proven track record, your selection as the Chairman of the FAAN Board is both fitting and promising. The aviation sector stands to gain from your visionary leadership, strategic insight, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Your admirers and mentees, myself included, have unwavering confidence in your capacity to elevate Nigeria’s aviation industry to unprecedented heights.

We also extend our profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recognizing and harnessing your exceptional capabilities for this pivotal role. His confidence in your leadership is a testament to your enduring contributions to national development.

As you embark on this new chapter, please be assured of our steadfast support and best wishes. We are confident that your tenure will usher in transformative progress for FAAN and the broader aviation sector in Nigeria,” the minister said.

In another congratulatory message also signed by Seyi Olorunsola, the minister hailed the appointment of  Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna as board chairman of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN ) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Dr. Gawuna’s appointment is a well-deserved recognition of his exemplary leadership and dedication to public service. With a distinguished career spanning governance, agriculture, and local administration, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to development. From his tenure as Chairman of Nassarawa Local Government to serving as Kano State Commissioner for Agriculture and later as Deputy Governor, Dr. Gawuna has consistently championed policies that drive progress and improve livelihoods.

“His vast experience and strategic insight will undoubtedly strengthen FMBN’s role in addressing Nigeria’s housing challenges. The Ministry applauds President Tinubu’s decision in selecting such a capable leader for this vital position.
