Give Info on robbers, kidnappers, get N5m reward – Soludo tells Anambra residents

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has unveiled a reward scheme offering up to N5 million to individuals who provide credible information leading to the capture of kidnappers, armed robbers, or the discovery of their hideouts.
The announcement was made during the official launch of Operation Udo Ga-Achi (Peace Shall Prevail), a collaborative security initiative in Awka on Saturday.
This initiative is aimed at enhancing the safety and security of both residents and visitors in the state. Soludo emphasized that tackling insecurity required collective action, particularly as criminal activities have evolved into more complex threats.
“We are taking decisive action on security with the launch of Operation ‘Udo Ga-Achi’ because we are committed to combating criminality and ensuring that Anambra becomes the safest state,” the governor said.
He urged local communities to cooperate by providing information to security agencies through the state’s toll-free hotline – 5111. “Whistleblowers providing reliable details leading to the arrest of kidnappers, armed robbers, or criminal camps will receive rewards of up to N5 million, depending on the severity of the crime,” Soludo explained.
Additionally, he introduced a new incentive for communities with zero crime, offering them N10 million each month as a reward for their efforts.
The operation involves 2000 personnel from the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the vigilante group ‘Agunechemba.’ These officers will be supported by 200 patrol vehicles that will be deployed across the state to address the rising levels of insecurity, including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, and other violent crimes.
“The government is resolute in confronting criminals head-on and stepping up efforts to enhance security,” Soludo assured.
In a further commitment to strengthening security, the governor signed the Anambra State Homeland Security Bill 2025 into law, formally establishing the new security program. He also named Igwe Chidubem Iweka of Obosi as the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council.
The Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono-Itam, speaking on behalf of security leaders, praised the government for its initiative and pledged the full support of security agencies in making Anambra a safe and secure state.
