Gunmen abduct wedding guests on Kwara highway demand N100m ransom

At least five individuals were reportedly kidnapped by gunmen on Saturday at Obbo-Ayegunle in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The victims, returning to their Odo-Owa residence from a wedding ceremony in Ope town, Kogi State, were abducted around 4 p.m.

The group includes Oloye Oyewole Abolarin, the head of hunters in Odo-Owa, his wife Funmilayo Abolarin, Tunde Oladipo and his wife, and a woman identified as Bose, all from Agbele Igbede compound in Odo-Owa.

The kidnappers have contacted the families, demanding a ₦100 million ransom for their release. In response, relatives and community members have begun pooling funds to meet the demand, while also urging Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and security agencies to intervene.

An unverified report suggests another abduction occurred on Monday along the Omu-Aran highway.

Efforts to reach DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
