Obi visits Atiku in Yola as ex-VP’s ally says ‘Tsunami to kick out Tinubu getting ready’

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, visited former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at his residence in Yola, Adamawa State, on Saturday.
The visit has fueled political discussions and speculation about the 2027 presidential election, with many suggesting that the two leaders might join forces again on the same ticket to challenge President Bola Tinubu.
Obi, who was Atiku’s running mate in the 2019 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party, which lost to then-President Muhammadu Buhari, addressed the visit in a post on his verified X handle.

He stated that he had travelled to Yola to deliver the keynote address at the 16th Founder’s Day Lecture, marking the 20th anniversary of the American University of Nigeria (AUN). Obi also expressed his sympathy for the victims of a recent tragic boat accident.
“Today, while travelling to Yola in Adamawa state to deliver the keynote address at the 16th Founder’s Day Lecture, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the American University of Nigeria (AUN), I received the very sad news of a tragic boat mishap. The incident occurred yesterday along the Dambo-Ebuchi section of the River Niger, resulting in the loss of many lives.
“Reports indicate that the boat was carrying approximately 200 individuals, mainly market women and local farmers, transporting their produce to the market.
“My heart goes out to the families affected by this tragedy. These are already challenging times, and the loss of loved ones only deepens the pain. My sincere prayers are with you all.”
AUN, which hosted Obi’s lecture, is owned by Atiku, who shared a video of the visit on social media, captioning it, “It is breakfast time with my friend, #PeterObi, in the ‘land of beauty.'”
In response to the video, Hamma Hayatu, an Atiku supporter, commented that the visit is a signal of what to expect in the 2027 election.
“The Tsunami that will kick out Tinubu and his nation killers gang out is getting ready.
“Atiku/Obi 2027,” he said.
