Jigawa commissioner cleared of adultery allegations by Shar ia Court

A Kano Upper Shari’a Court has dismissed an adultery case filed against Auwal Danladi Sankara, the suspended Jigawa Commissioner for Special Duties.

The case, which accused Sankara of enticing a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, was terminated on Monday due to insufficient evidence.

Presiding Judge, Ibrahim Sarki Yola, ruled that the allegations lacked merit following thorough investigations by the AIG Zone, Kano, and the Kano State Attorney General. Both authorities found no proof of any illicit affair between Sankara and Nabegu, leading to the case’s dismissal.

In his judgment, Judge Sarki Yola cited Section 211 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and Section 364 (subsection 5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) 2019.

He emphasized that the police report and the Attorney General’s findings clearly debunked the claims, making the continuation of the case unnecessary.

Furthermore, the judge cautioned Hisbah officials and other law enforcement agencies to maintain professionalism in their duties, warning against actions that could defame individuals without substantiated evidence.

The complainant, Nasir Buba, neither appeared in court nor was represented during the session. Judge Sarki Yola noted that there was no need to hear further from the complainant, as the evidence from the AIG investigation and Kano Attorney General was sufficient to warrant the case’s dismissal.
