Operatives from the Kano State Hisbah command have apprehended a commissioner from a neighbouring state on charges of committing adultery.
On Friday, the Kano State Hisbah Board confirmed the arrest and stated that the commissioner (name withheld) would face court proceedings on Monday.
Hisbah Director General Abba Sufi reported that the commissioner was discovered in the company of a married woman, a mother of two.
“Yes, it is true we have arrested (him)….. , with a married woman in an uncompleted building that belongs to him,” Sufi said.
“Unknown to him, we were tracking him based on reports we received against him,” he added.

The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the woman’s husband, who accused the commissioner of having an affair with his wife.
“(He) filed the complaint with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board, alleging (commissioner’s) involvement in illicit sexual activities with his wife,” the official explained.
Sufi further noted, “We have been having problems with (the suspect) because he is operating illicit drug centres in the names of hotels with prostitution and drug addiction activities.”
