Peter Obi donates N50m to Nigerian university

Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has donated N50 million to Shanahan University, a newly established institution in Onitsha, during its official inauguration.
At the event, Obi emphasized the increasing importance of knowledge in today’s world, stating, “Knowledge is the currency of the future.”
He praised the university’s founder, Archbishop Valerian Okeke, for his vision in creating an institution that prioritizes education as a key to future success.
Obi called on society to focus on preparing for the future through education, commending the church’s consistent efforts in building world-class educational institutions.
His donation is a testament to his ongoing support for missionary schools and their role in shaping the country’s educational landscape.

Archbishop Okeke expressed his deep gratitude for Obi’s continuous contributions to education.
He also announced that Shanahan University would offer free internet access to students until January 2025, further enhancing their learning experience.
In his address, Professor Obi Oguejiofor, Vice Chancellor of Shanahan University, outlined the university’s ambition to become one of Nigeria’s leading higher education institutions.
He also revealed that the pioneer batch of over 200 students would receive tuition-free education for the current academic session, underscoring the university’s commitment to providing accessible and quality education.
