On October 5, residents of Rivers State headed to the polls to elect their local government representatives.

The election, which was surrounded by controversy regarding its legitimacy before it commenced, saw the Action Peoples Party (APP) dominate, winning in 22 of the 23 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.

However, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) withheld the announcement of the results for Etche LGA, as collation is still ongoing.

Announcing the results in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Adolphus Enebeli, the Chief Electoral Officer of RSIEC, stated that the results for the 319 councillorship positions and the Etche chairmanship would be released once the collation process is finalized.

Ahoada-East – Chibudom Ezu

Ahoada-West – Iyekor Ikporo

Andoni – Lazarus Gogote Nteogwuile

Asari-Toru – Sule Amachree

Bonny – Dame Hon. Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox (re-elected)

Degema – Harry Agiriye (former Permanent Secretary)
