Abia Rep member defects from PDP to APC

Chris Nkwonta, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ukwa East/West in Abia State, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement was made during Wednesday’s plenary session in Abuja by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.

In reaction to Nkwonta’s defection, Deputy Minority Leader Aliyu Madaki cited constitutional provisions, calling for Nkwonta’s seat to be declared vacant.

However, Speaker Abbas responded by acknowledging the existence of a faction within the PDP, indicating that the matter might not be straightforward.
