Kano gov warns supporters against attacking Kwankwaso

The Kano State Government has cautioned supporters of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to desist from making provocative remarks or insulting the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, warning that such conduct could attract disciplinary action.

The caution was issued by the Director General of Media and Publicity at Government House, Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, during the distribution of motorcycles to party members at the Open Space Theatre within the Government House.

Governor Yusuf was present at the event.

Bature stressed that the state government would not condone indiscipline or any form of disrespect toward Kwankwaso, whom he described as a key political figure whose influence in Kano politics remains significant despite recent political developments.

“We will not accept indiscipline or insults against the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Anybody who engages in such behaviour will face the consequences. We will not accept it,” he said.

He urged supporters of the governor to exercise restraint and maturity, particularly amid heightened political tension following recent political realignments in the state.

According to him, the government is committed to preserving peace and unity among its supporters, adding that political disagreements should not descend into personal attacks or abusive conduct.

Bature further reminded party members that discipline and respect for leadership within the political structure were critical to stability and effective governance.

The warning comes against the backdrop of ongoing discussions and reactions following Governor Yusuf’s recent resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), a move that has continued to generate mixed reactions among members of the Kwankwasiyya movement and residents of Kano State.
