Rivers APC welcomes Tinubu’s endorsement of Fubara as state party leader

The Emeka Beke–led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has expressed satisfaction over the affirmation of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the leader of the party in the state, saying the development confirms its long-standing position amid lingering internal disputes.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by the faction’s spokesperson, Darlington Nwauju, the group said the affirmation, communicated through the President’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, underscored President Bola Tinubu’s adherence to the APC constitution and long-established party practices.
The Rivers APC leadership praised President Tinubu for restating the convention that APC governors serve as party leaders at the state level, noting that the approach promotes unity, effective mobilisation and organisational stability. According to the faction, the clarification was consistent with the policy direction of the party’s national leadership.

The group stated that the presidential position should end what it described as “false and misleading narratives” concerning the leadership of the APC in Rivers State.
It also took exception to comments credited to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, over the impeachment process involving Governor Fubara and his deputy. The state faction described the remarks as personal views that conflicted with the principles of party discipline and membership.
In the statement, the faction urged Morka to relinquish his position, accusing him of failing to protect the party’s organisational interests.
The Rivers APC further called on the party’s National Working Committee to respect subsisting court rulings on the leadership of the state chapter and to promptly conduct congresses at the ward, local government and state levels to reconcile opposing interests.
Additionally, the faction appealed to Governor Fubara, as leader of the APC in Rivers State, to convene a stakeholders’ meeting aimed at setting a clear and unified course for the party.
