Tinubu’s defeat in 2027 possible if …..- Dele Momodu

Former presidential aspirant Dele Momodu has said President Bola Tinubu can be defeated in the 2027 general election if opposition parties ensure close monitoring of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Momodu made the assertion on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, where he argued that dislodging President Tinubu from office is achievable under the right electoral conditions.
The politician, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said the opposition must field candidates with sufficient political capacity and influence to confront the ruling party.
“I don’t know why people think it’s impossible that Asiwaju is not removable. Trust me, as long as we give INEC close marking, and that is why you need candidates who will be able to generate the firepower,” he said.
Momodu noted that the ADC boasts several high-profile political figures capable of mounting a strong challenge against President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He mentioned former Sokoto State governor and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai; and former Rivers State governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as notable leaders within the party.
“So we have a lot of people, a rich and robust lineup in the ADC. For me, it’s not about one man. Of course, Mr Peter Obi, who INEC recorded as coming third, may be controversial, while Atiku Abubakar came second,” he added.
According to Momodu, the ADC is strategically positioned ahead of the next election, as two of the top three contenders from the previous presidential race—Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi—are already aligned with the party.
“That should tell us that if we manage our affairs very well, we will already have overwhelming votes to torpedo the APC,” he said.
The ADC chieftain insisted that the opposition has built enough momentum to confront the ruling party nationwide, stressing that defeating the APC “is not an impossibility.”
Momodu further observed that international experience shows elections are usually successful when the electoral process is handled professionally and transparently.
