Umahi lauds JRB Construction over Abuja–Keffi road reconstruction

The Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, has expressed satisfaction with the quality of work delivered by JRB Construction Company Limited on the Abuja–Keffi dual carriageway reconstruction project.
Umahi gave the commendation during an on-the-spot inspection of the ongoing project, where he praised the company’s level of professionalism while pointing out areas that still required improved finishing.
JRB Construction Company Limited was awarded the emergency intervention reconstruction of the road in October 2025 and has since shown remarkable speed and efficiency in executing the project.
Recall that the firm received the contract for the emergency reconstruction in October 2025 and had assured the federal government of a swift completion timeline.
Meanwhile, during an inspection of the section handled by China Harbour Engineering, the minister issued a firm directive, giving the company until the end of February to complete and hand over the road or face sanctions in line with the contract agreement.
“I am giving you the end of February to hand over this job. You must come to my office on Wednesday with your timetable and a commitment to complete the project by then,” he said.
Umahi further emphasised that 2026 would be an “action year” for the ministry, warning that indiscipline, negligence, and failure to carry out directives would no longer be condoned.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of JRB Group, Jimoh Rauf, commended the federal government for empowering indigenous construction firms to demonstrate their competence and professionalism.
“I assure you that by the end of March 2026, this project will be completed,” he said.
