BREAKING : Super Eagles soar into AFCON semi-finals in grand style

Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a hard-fought victory over Algeria on Saturday, producing a commanding second-half performance to keep their continental title hopes alive.

After a tightly contested first half in which both sides cancelled each other out, Nigeria raised their tempo after the break and were rewarded with two decisive goals. Simon Oshimen broke the deadlock midway through the second half, capitalising on sustained pressure from the Super Eagles to put his side in control of the quarter-final encounter.

Algeria pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Nigeria’s defence stood firm, showing composure and discipline under pressure. Their resistance paid off late in the match when Adams Akor sealed the win with a well-taken goal, extinguishing any hopes of an Algerian comeback and confirming Nigeria’s passage into the last four.
