Armed bandits have once again attacked Faruruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, killing a Nigerian soldier and a civilian and making away with a large number of cattle.

The latest assault reportedly started late on Thursday night and continued into the early hours of Friday, lasting until about 5:00am, during which the attackers were said to have operated without resistance for several hours.

A security alert issued by Bakatsine, a security monitoring platform, confirmed the duration of the attack and pointed to growing security concerns in the area.

According to the alert, the assailants rustled a significant number of cattle, inflicting serious economic losses on residents whose livelihoods depend largely on livestock.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from the Kano State government or security agencies regarding the incident.

The attack comes months after a similar incident in the same community. On November 10, 2025, it was reported that bandits carried out a deadly raid on Faruruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, abducting five women, four of whom were nursing mothers.

During that earlier incident, the gunmen reportedly stormed Yan Kwada village around 11pm, firing sporadically to instill fear and force residents to flee before abducting the women and escaping to an unknown destination.

A local resident said they came shooting sporadically and breaking into houses, stating that they abducted five women, including nursing mothers.

It was also learnt that two of the abducted women later returned, while three others remained in captivity.
