JUST IN : Fubara, Ngige, others in attendance as Tinubu chairs APC national caucus meeting

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday presided over a meeting of the National Caucus of the All Progressives Congress at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
The meeting commenced at 7:38 p.m., shortly after the President arrived at the venue.
Thursday’s gathering marked the second caucus meeting of the ruling party in 2025, following the earlier session held on February 25. It was also the first National Caucus meeting since Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda assumed office as the APC national chairman in July.
Proceedings opened with prayers led by the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), who offered the Muslim prayer, while Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, delivered the Christian prayer.
The caucus meeting followed the party’s decision to shift its National Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings from December 15–16 to December 18–19. The NEC meeting is now scheduled to take place on Friday at the Presidential Villa.
Several governors and senior party figures at the venue, including serving and former APC governors, as well as principal officers of the National Assembly were present at the meeting.
Former Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, was also in attendance, coming hours after he was granted bail by a Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Gwarimpa.
Ngige is currently facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on an eight-count charge relating to alleged abuse of office and the acceptance of gifts valued at approximately ₦2.2 billion.
Also present were six governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party who recently defected to the APC.
They include Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno and Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas.
The APC National Caucus comprises the party’s highest-ranking leadership and typically includes the President, Vice President, national chairman, members of the National Working Committee, APC governors and other key stakeholders.
The forum is convened to harmonise political and organisational positions ahead of broader deliberations at meetings of the National Executive Committee.
