JUST IN : Anxiety as deputy gov collapses in office

A wave of anxiety swept through Yenagoa on Thursday after Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo reportedly collapsed in his office and was immediately transported to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in the state capital.
The episode happened at about 1:30 p.m., triggering urgent medical intervention. Witnesses at the scene said he appeared to be in serious condition as he was moved into the hospital’s emergency department.
Hospital sources confirmed that Senator Ewhrudjakpo has since been stabilized and is receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). While there has been no official explanation for the sudden health crisis, insiders hinted that it may have been linked to a cardiac-related issue. A close associate attributed the situation partly to his demanding pace of work, remarking, “He’s a workaholic; he should find time to rest.”
Security personnel have cordoned off the medical facility, and several senior government officials have stopped by to show solidarity. Efforts to reach the deputy governor’s media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, did not yield any response. However, hospital sources assured our correspondent that Ewhrudjakpo is receiving optimal treatment and remains stable.
