DSS arrests medical doctor treating injured bandits in Kwara forests

The Department of State Service (DSS) has taken into custody a medical doctor alleged to have been providing medical support to bandits operating in several parts of Kwara State.
The arrest was made in the Jebba axis after intelligence suggested that couriers had been transporting medical supplies from Sokoto to treat bandits nursing injuries in forest hideouts across the state.
Security operatives disclosed that many members of the criminal gangs have suffered gunshot wounds during recent clashes with government forces.
“So, we are advising improved security measures in health facilities in thickly forested areas which the kidnappers may target,” a security official said.
Confirming the development, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, described the arrest as a significant milestone in the broader campaign against banditry.
“This is a major stride by the DSS. It reinforces the fact that security agencies are closing in on these criminals and blocking the support systems that enable their operations,” he said.
Ajakaye added that the state government will intensify its cooperation with security agencies to dismantle every channel sustaining kidnapping networks.
