JUST IN : Tinubu swears in new minister

President Bola Tinubu has formally sworn in retired former Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, as the country’s new Minister of Defence.
Musa, who recently stepped down as CDS, took the oath of office on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed the development in a post on X, noting that Musa had officially assumed the role.
His inauguration comes a day after the Senate confirmed him as Defence Minister following what lawmakers described as a thorough question-and-answer session.
President Tinubu had on Tuesday nominated General Musa to take over the ministry. In a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the president announced Musa as the replacement for Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who resigned on Monday on health grounds.
General Musa, who will be 58 on December 25, previously served as Chief of Defence Staff from 2023 until October 2025. He is also a recipient of the 2012 Colin Powell Award for Soldiering.
