BREAKING : Tinubu nominates Ibas, Dambazau, ex-gov’s wife, others as ambassadors

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a fresh set of non-career ambassadorial nominations to the senate, featuring Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State and former chief of naval staff.
Also included on the list are Ita Enang, a former senator; Chioma Ohakim, one-time first lady of Imo State; and Abdulrahman Dambazau, former interior minister and ex–chief of army staff. These individuals were not part of the earlier batch of nominees released by the presidency.
The latest nominations were announced when Senate President Godswill Akpabio read a letter from Tinubu during Thursday’s plenary.
In the communication, Tinubu urged the senate to fast-track its consideration of the nominees so the administration can fill key diplomatic posts without delay.
Akpabio has directed the senate committee on foreign affairs to screen the nominees and return its report within a week.
This follows the president’s earlier nominations of Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide; Femi Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister; and Mahmood Yakubu, the immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as ambassadors.
