Kano : One killed, 3 abducted as bandits launch deadly night-time attack

Suspected bandits stormed Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, killing an elderly woman and kidnapping three people.

The attackers reportedly carried out the assault late Saturday night while most residents were asleep, leaving the community in fear.

Police Public Relations Officer Abdullahi  Kiyawa confirmed the incident, saying officers had been dispatched to pursue the perpetrators.

“We are doing everything possible to rescue the kidnapped victims and restore calm to the area,” Kiyawa said.

An eyewitness recounted that the assailants rode into the area on motorcycles, left the bikes at the outskirts, and walked into the village to avoid drawing attention.

Another resident, who requested anonymity, described the killing of the elderly woman as “heartbreaking.”

“She pleaded with them not to take her son. They refused to listen to her. They shot her and took the young man away,” he shared.
