A fresh wave of insecurity has hit Kwara State following the reported abduction of a traditional ruler, Oba Bayagan, in the Ifelodun Local Government Area.

According to a report by SaharaReporters, the monarch was taken on Saturday, though the circumstances surrounding the incident were still unclear at the time of this report. Residents said the attack happened suddenly, leaving the community in fear and confusion.

Kwara State has struggled with a sharp rise in violent crimes in recent years, with rural communities increasingly targeted by armed groups.

Barely two weeks ago, terrorists stormed a church in Eruku, in the Ekiti Local Government Area, kidnapping worshippers during a service. The victims were later rescued after security forces intervened.

Soon after that incident, another gang attacked Isapa community, also in the Ekiti axis, abducting at least 11 people, including women and youth.

The kidnapping of Oba Bayagan has further heightened anxiety across Ifelodun and nearby local government areas.

It was earlier reported that terrorists abducted two residents of Manba Village in Patigi LGA after invading the area through the Rogun axis late Friday night.
