‘Nigeria has lost ‘spiritual pillar’ — Ganduje mourns Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, says he was deeply shocked by the news of the death of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, the former APC helmsman described Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as an exceptional religious authority whose lifelong dedication to spreading Islamic learning, championing peace, and offering moral direction has created a legacy that resonates across Nigeria and the global Muslim community.
“His scholarship, humility, and steadfast commitment to righteousness earned him admiration across religious, political, and cultural divides,” he said.
Ganduje offered his sincere sympathy to the Bauchi Emirate, the Bauchi State Government, the late Sheikh’s family, his many students worldwide, and the Tijjaniyya community.
Recognising the enormity of the loss, he stated that the scholar’s teachings, values, and exemplary lifestyle will remain a guiding light for future generations.
He prayed for Almighty Allah to pardon the Sheikh’s shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.
According to him, Nigeria has lost a spiritual anchor whose message of moderation, wisdom, and unity will be sorely missed.
