A mobile police officer serving under Operation Restore Peace has been killed in an ambush by armed bandits in Adabka village, located in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the attack happened on Tuesday at about 11:44 a.m.

The officer, who was deployed from Mopol 15 in Ilorin, was said to have left his base in Adabka and was heading to Tibis village to buy essential items when he came under attack.

Security sources in Bukkuyum disclosed to Zagazola that the bandits, who had taken cover in nearby bushes along the outskirts of Adabka, targeted the operative as he passed.

The assailants allegedly fired at the officer, killing him on the spot and making away with his service riot gun.

“Field teams deployed to the scene recovered the body of the fallen operative, which was evacuated to Adabka Primary Health Care Centre for documentation,” the source said.

According to sources, the method of attack resembles tactics used by bandit groups linked to the Dan-Karama Gwaska and Dansadau networks, which are notorious for executing coordinated ambushes followed by swift retreat.
