Wife reportedly st bs husband to death 3 days after wedding

A community in Jibia town, Katsina State, has been thrown into shock after a newly married man, Abubakar Abdulkarim, widely known as Dan Gaske, was allegedly killed by his wife just three days after their wedding ceremony.

The couple exchanged vows on Thursday, November 18, 2025, but the union ended abruptly on Sunday when the tragic incident reportedly took place.

According to residents, the groom was attacked while asleep, with the wife allegedly using a knife to inflict a fatal injury on his neck.

According to a report by DAILY TRUST, a relative of the deceased, Aminu Danladi, said he had spent the morning with the groom, along with other family members, discussing plans for a visit scheduled later that day.

Danladi explained that the groom left to prepare for the engagement, only for the family to later receive news that he had been found dead inside his home.

Amid rumours circulating about the nature of their marriage, Aminu clarified that the union was not forced and that the couple had maintained a cordial relationship leading up to their wedding.

Sources in the community said the wife, identified  is in her 20s and hails from Katsina metropolis.

She was introduced to the groom by his nephew, who knew her as a former classmate at Government Girls Secondary School, Jibia. It was also gathered that she had previously been married and divorced, a detail the groom’s family was reportedly unaware of.

Community members believe the incident happened between noon and 1 p.m. Shortly afterward, the wife was said to have approached a neighbour asking for food, appearing disoriented.

Her behaviour raised suspicion among older women in the area, who accompanied her back home, where they discovered the groom’s body and quickly alerted security operatives.

The police have confirmed the incident and disclosed that an investigation is underway.

In a statement issued Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer in Katsina, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said:“On November 23rd, 2025, at about 1:30pm, a report was received at the Jibia Division that one Abdullahi (not his real name), a newly wedded groom, was found motionless in a pool of blood in his residence situated in Tashar Buja quarters, Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State.
