The Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) has announced a strategic partnership with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to educate and prepare the Kano business community ahead of the implementation of the new national tax reforms.

KACCIMA President, Amb. Usman Hassan Darma, revealed the initiative on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of the 46th Kano International Trade Fair.

According to him, the chamber and the FIRS will roll out a comprehensive enlightenment campaign and host townhall engagements designed to guide businesses—particularly small and medium enterprises—through the reforms expected to take effect in January 2026.

“KACCIMA is working closely with the Federal Inland Revenue Service to implement comprehensive enlightenment and townhall engagements for the Kano business community on the new Tax Reforms scheduled to commence in January 2026,” Darma stated.

He stressed that the initiative aligns with the chamber’s commitment to ensure that SMEs transition into the new tax regime “from a position of knowledge rather than uncertainty.”

The KACCIMA President commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the administration’s economic policies, noting that although some reforms may seem challenging at the onset, they are projected to yield long-term benefits for national stability, investor confidence and SME development.

Darma also expressed appreciation to Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for sustaining a supportive business environment. He acknowledged the governor’s efforts in strengthening security and promoting commerce in the state.

“As we officially open the 46th Kano International Trade Fair, I affirm my belief that the future of Kano’s economy rests on innovation, strategic partnerships, and the strength of our SMEs,” he said.

He urged participants and stakeholders to use the trade fair as a platform to forge new business connections, explore investment opportunities and unlock creativity that will drive sustainable economic growth.
